A Note About This Site Pertaining To Comments

Posted on 7:49 PM by Unknown
Unlike leftist sites which either indulge in censorship, or attack anyone with opposing views, I am perfectly happy for comments here from all viewpoints.

But there are guidelines of course;

1. Foul language is not acceptable

2. Neither is abusive language

3. A level of intelligent commentary is expected.

4. Unfavorable comments about the private lives, hobbies physical appearance and apparel of Governor Palin and her family will be blocked.

5. Comments from people with opposing views to the general tenor of this site must pertain to policy, polls, economics and associated matters/issues.

Thank you

David Brooks Gets it;Palin Led Team (Cruz et al) Not Interested In Perks"

Posted on 4:55 PM by Unknown
The Daily Caller LINK reproduces this excerpt from Video below of conservative establishment guru David Brooks:

“What’s going on in the House, and a bit in the Senate, too, is what you might call the rise of Ted Cruz-ism,” Brooks said. “And Ted Cruz, the senator from Canada through Texas, is basically not a legislator in the normal sense, doesn’t have an idea that he’s going to Congress to create coalitions, make alliances, and he is going to pass a lot of legislation. He’s going in more as a media-protest person. And a lot of the House Republicans are in the same mode. They’re not normal members of Congress. They’re not legislators. They want to stop things. And so they’re just being — they just want to obstruct.”

Brooks hypothesized the reason the leadership in the House and Senate is unable to control the so-called Ted Cruz-ism movement is that members of it have become uninterested in any of the perks that the leadership has to offer.

Exactly so-the GOPe finally gets it. the Tea party movement, Sarah Palin and the legislators her endorsement has brought into congress don't want a bar of the traditional perks and pork. And yes, they will take on the Republican party as well as the Democrats in pursuit of a conservative revolution.

This realization is why the Republican Establishment has joined with the "progressives" and the liberal media in their now frenzied attack on Senator Cruz as well as their ongoing 5 year attack on Governor Palin. They recognize the existential threat to up till now total control of the levers of power and money. What they don't know is how to hold of the new forces that are not interested in power for powers sake, for the baubles of office and for compromising and alliances with forces opposed to the best interest of the people both the liberals and GOP Establishment disdain-the ordinary folks , the bitter clingers, who live in flyover country.

It is a battle to the death and the Establishment will kick out in a frenzy and ally with the left in their death throes. Vigilance and the strongest support of the Palin-ite forces is needed at this crucial juncture.

Gov. Palin: Creating beauty from ashes

Sarah Palin shared a photo and a Yon Kippur message on Facebook Friday,:

 photo palin-yon-kippur_zpsd6c66138.jpg
My best wishes to the Jewish community today as Yom Kippur is celebrated. This is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holy days wherein we’re reminded of humanity’s timeless struggle for peace and justice in a world in need of redemption. May we never cease striving for these ideals, may we never lose hope in the ultimate goodness of God, and may we always seek His unearned mercy and grace. It is amazing that He miraculously and freely gives to those who ask and accept.

I received such a meaningful gift yesterday from friends in New York. This photo shows the rose they sent me; it’s handcrafted out of the remains of rockets fired at Sderot and other Israeli communities from Gaza. The sculpture represents people who grow roses from rockets, “creating beauty from ashes,” representing an Israel that has endured so much. May the people of Israel know who their friends are, and may they know peace.

A Commentary On;"Objectifying Sarah Palin:Evidence that objectification causes women to be perceived as less competent and less fully human."

Posted on 12:18 PM by Unknown
Abstract from "Objectifying Sarah Palin: Evidence that objectification causes women
to be perceived as less competent and less fully human." The entire article is AT THIS LINK
and shows the unique, unfair and grossly sexist challenges that Governor Palin had to endure. That she did against a hostile media and Democrat opposition and is still a person of significant influence is a tribute to her unique character.

This article is well read as an adjunct to "The Contemporary Effects of Vice-Presidential  Nominees:Sarah Palin and the 2008  Presidential Campaign" LINK
and "Gender Bias Against Sarah Palin: A Content Analysis of National Newspapers"  LINK
which also reinforces the incredible bias against Palin in 20008 which continues today from the same forces.

Infrahumanization

abstract

Although a great deal of research has examined the effects of objectification on women’s self-perceptions
and behavior, empirical research has yet to address how objectifying a woman affects the way she is perceived by others. We hypothesize that focusing on a woman’s appearance will promote reduced perceptions of competence, and also, by virtue of construing the women as an ‘‘object”, perceptions of the
woman as less human. We found initial experimental evidence for these hypotheses as a function of
objectifying two targets – Sarah Palin and Angelina Jolie. In addition, focusing on Palin’s appearance
reduced intentions to vote for the McCain–Palin ticket (prior to the 2008 US Presidential election). We
discuss these findings in the context of the election and the objectification of women.

‘‘There is a gigantic difference between...me and my Vice-Presidential opponent. She’s good-looking”.
Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States
The Republican National Committee reportedly spent upwards of
$150,000 improving US Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s
wardrobe and appearance (Isikoff & Smalley, 2008). And, despite facing criticism for this, in a sense, it ‘‘worked”. A clip of her wearing a
swimsuit on the internet site YouTube received well over a million
views, and Time magazine declared her a ‘‘sex symbol”, reporting
that ‘‘photos” and ‘‘beauty pageant” were the second and third most
popular internet search words in conjunction with Palin’s name
(Tancer, September, 2, 2008).

In addition to the focus on her appearance, exit polls indicated that 60% of American voters thought that
Palin was unqualified for the job (Barnes, 2008). But, is there a link
between the focus on Palin’s appearance and negative views of her?
In this study, we examined three questions. One, does focusing
on a woman’s appearance reduce perceptions of her competence?
Second, does it promote perceptions of the woman as an object –
and consequently, as less fully human? Third, although there are
undoubtedly a number of reasons for the McCain–Palin defeat,
could the focus on Sarah Palin’s appearance have contributed to
reduced willingness to vote for their ticket in the 2008 US Presidential election?

Objectification
Building on the work of feminist scholars (e.g., Bartky, 1990),
Fredrickson and Roberts (1997) argued that women are objectified
when they are viewed as if their body is capable of representing
them. Research on objectification has provided an in depth analysis
of the psychological consequences for objectified women (see
Fredrickson & Roberts, 1997); but, researchers have yet to address
how focusing on a woman’s appearance affects perceptions of her.
Philosopher Martha Nussbaum (1999) speculated about several
possible ways that objectification influences perceptions of objectified persons, including females valued solely for appearance.

Some of these are directly related to minimizing their competence:
denying self-determination, agentic qualities and uniqueness of
talents (i.e., they can easily be replaced). Others likely minimize
the perception of the individual as fully human, such as denying
that their feelings and experiences matter and having less concern
when they are physically or emotionally harmed.
Perceptions of competence
Women who self-evaluate based on appearance (i.e., self-objectify) perceived themselves as less competent (Gapinski, Brownell,
& LaFrance, 2003), and perform less competently when objectifying themselves (e.g., Fredrickson, Roberts, Noll, Quinn, & Twenge,
1998; Quinn, Kallen, Twenge, & Fredrickson, 2006).

But, as far as
we know, no empirical research has directly tested if focusing on
women’s appearance versus their personhood reduces other’s perceptions of their competence.
There is, however, a large body of research on female attractiveness and perceptions of competence. While ‘‘what is beautiful is
good (and competent)” is generally supported (e.g., Jackson, Hunter, & Hodge, 1995), when women are evaluated for high status
jobs, attractiveness reduces perceptions of women’s, but not men’s,
competence.

Gov. Palin: Repeal Obamacare; begin by defunding it

Palin FB New 300 photo palin-fb-new-300_zps6534baa9.jpg
On Facebook Thursday, Sarah Palin argued again for the repeal of the poorly-named and ill-conceived Affordable Care Act:
Remember when President Obama promised us, “If you like your current health care plan, you can keep your plan?” That was not true, and his deceptive claim falls in line with all the other lies about Obamacare – like there’d be no health care rationing.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can understand that if it is cheaper for a company to cancel employees’ health benefits and pay the $2,000 Obamacare fine instead of providing, say, a $10,000 government mandated employee health care plan, then of course that company will choose to pay the much smaller fine.

And if companies don’t have to provide government mandated health care for part time employees, then of course that’s an incentive for them to cut back employees’ hours and make their workforce part time.

This isn’t rocket science. This is Economics 101. And it’s happening right now at companies all over the country.

We saw this coming, and now even President Obama’s union leader friends have finally 'fessed up to Obamacare lies. These union leaders betrayed their own membership by enthusiastically endorsing Obamacare, and now our good union brothers and sisters are at risk of losing the benefits they’ve worked for and counted on their whole lives. Union bosses, you owe your membership an apology, retraction, and resignation.

Union leaders are now scrambling and trying to get special carve-outs exclusively for union members. I sympathize with union members – especially when they’re led by thugs. I always do. But this is the wrong way to go about fixing the enormous train wreck that is Obamacare. More cronyism, select exemptions, and special subsidies make the problem worse.

We need to repeal the whole darn thing, and that starts with defunding it.

Union brothers and sisters, don’t let your incompetent leadership hoodwink you again. Demand a full repeal, an immediate defunding, and some resignations.
