Sarah Palin joined Eric Bolling on Fox News this morning to take a mini-victory lap over some Democrats suddenly embracing the idea she put forth years ago over health care “death panels.” Palin felt somewhat vindicated, but didn’t want to “condone them… for trying to jump off the Obama train wreck.” She told Bolling that rationing was in the health care law from the beginning, and the Democrats who didn’t notice it until now did not want to look like “buffoons.”

Palin also took the media to task for wasting an opportunity at President Obama‘s big press conference to grill him about his “phony scandals” remarks and get him to say which he considers phony. And because no one is calling him out on it, Palin said, “he acts like it’s no big darn deal.” She smacked down Obama’s talk of striking a balance between security and privacy, saying the government’s constant lies about surveillance show there really is no balance.

Bolling asked Palin where she stands in the Rand Paul-Chris Christie feud. Palin proudly declared her allegiance to Team Rand, hitting Christie for his “schtick” of “set-up situations” where he gets to be confrontational, someone records it and puts in on YouTube, and makes him look like a straight-talking conservative.

Simply put-if Palin is for you then you have an excellent chance of success e.g. Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer and numerous others.If she is against you, or luke warm then your chances of success are zero to next to zero-such is the strength of her following. The reason for this is Palin is clearly seen as "genuine" and thus any endorsed candidate is also genuine. On the other hand if Palin attacks or is lukewarm (e.g. Romney) then the person is seen as not meeting the standard of genuineness that Palin embodies and is not worth supporting.Goodbye Mr. Christie.

JUNEAU -- OK, this is awkward. It now looks as if former Gov. Sarah Palin was right all along about the "Bridge to Nowhere," when in 2007 she canceled the proposed $400 million project to link Ketchikan with its airport on nearby Gravina Island, saying it was too expensive.

Both the City of Ketchikan and the Ketchikan Gateway Borough now say that the best way to improve access to the airport is by improved ferry service. The state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is now studying both ferry and bridge options as part of the Gravina Access Project. Public comment on the draft environmental impact statement ends Tuesday.

Both the city, at one end of possible Gravina links, and the borough, which runs the airport and governs the land on the Gravina side of the link, have decided better ferry service, one of the options under consideration, is the way to go. The option both entities chose to support, dubbed G-4, would involve new ferries and terminals at a cost of $62 million, much less than the $276 million cost of the priciest bridge option.

All the options under consideration are cheaper than the grandiose bridge plan that Palin canceled in 2007.

Ketchikan City Council member Sam Bergeron called it "laughable" to spend $250-300 million on the bridge, given existing financial constraints and other needs. "This project needs to be scaled back from a bridge to improved ferry service to be mindful of the economic times we are in," said Bergeron, formerly a bridge supporter.

The new support for the ferry option doesn't mean that a bridge isn't desired, just that obtaining funding is not realistic, said supporters of option G-4.

That's essentially what then-Gov. Palin said in 2007 when she canceled the bridge option and told the Department of Transportation to look for more cost-effective ways to improve connections to Gravina Island. She had called the earlier plan "grandiose" on a campaign trip before being elected governor, according to the Ketchikan Daily News.

Ketchikan had sought the bridge for more than a decade, since the days when Sens. Ted Stevens, Frank Murkowski, and Rep. Don Young were all in positions of power in Washington, D.C., and able to bring home the hundreds of millions the bridge would have cost.

Times in the nation's capital changed, however, and what was known in Alaska as the Gravina Access Project got dubbed the "Bridge to Nowhere" by critics of pork-barrel spending and federal earmarks. Sen. John McCain rose to prominence in the Republican Party as new concerns about the federal government spending took hold nationally. When a Minnesota freeway bridge collapse killed 13 people, McCain linked it to spending decisions such as providing "$233 million of your tax dollars on a bridge in Alaska to an island with 50 people on it."

Congress stripped $175 million in earmarks from the project, but let Alaska keep the money for other projects. Palin, saying that obtaining more funding wasn't realistic, canceled the bridge project.

That action left local officials furious, as much for being left out of the decision making and being taken by surprise by the press release announcing the cancellation as for the loss of the project. "I am livid," said then-Rep. Kyle Johansen, R-Ketchikan, a fellow Republican whom Palin had excluded from the process.

A year later, Palin rubbed salt in Ketchikan's wounds when she accepted the Republican nomination for vice president alongside presidential nominee Sen. John McCain and bragged about canceling the "Bridge to Nowhere."

Look, but, I get the downside that, you know, the people who criticise her give her, but I can only judge how this is going down like in a state like Arkansas where I'm from where we have, you  know, half the people live in communities of less than twenty five hundred. There are people who are pro-choice and pro-life, and more than half the people have a hunting or a fishing license. But they like families who hang together who deal with adversity, that are proud of all there members and don't run off from life's vicissitudes. 

So I think that she, and her husband, and their kids come across as gutsy, spirited, real.

You know I have significant differences with her about any number of social and economic issues, but I find her an appealing person and I think that it's best to say that Senator McCain looks like he knew what he was doing, he picked somebody who gave him a lot energy, a lot of support

On February 16th 2009 President Clinton had a wide ranging discussion with Larry King during which the president was asked about former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and the effect she had on John McCain's campaign;

KING : Sarah Palin, net plus, net gain?

CLINTON: I think she was a net plus before the failure of Lehman Brothers and the collapse of the stock market, because she gave him credibility on the Republican right. And you had all of a sudden -- I remember -- everybody has forgotten this. But before Sarah Palin was named, Senator McCain had two offices in Ohio and I think Senator O -- then Senator Obama had 14.

Overnight, you had an operation. Through no fault of her own, she became a negative on September 15th, because nobody on their team had any economic experience and the burden against the Republicans was overwhelming.

However, I think after September 15th, it wouldn't have mattered who his vice presidential candidate was. I think the election ended when the Bush administration decided not to try to help Lehman Brothers and accelerated what was then a deep housing crisis into a generalized collapse of the stock market. After that, I think the election was over and we were all just working hard as we could to do as well as we could.

BC; That's up to.the American people can elect whomever they want, but she served, you know, not a full time term as governor, and she went out and did this. We don't even know if she is going to run for president.

Poll;Governor Palin At Highest Favorable 55.18% Since 2009

On the heels of Sarah Palin being found-by a left wing polling outfit PPP Polling LINK to be the favoured candidate, by far, by Alaska's Republicans to oppose Senator Begich in 2014, Palin's latest EM poll rating finds her at heights not seen in four years-55.18% Approval. In the Alaska PPP poll, Palin's favourable rating with Republicans was 65%-20 points higher than her nearest possible polled opponent.

This result is mirrored and reinforced by the cross tabs at the most recent 2013 CNN/ORC poll, presuming that the responders in this new Election-Meter.com LINK poll are mostly Republicans

The most important factor in the CNN poll LINK was an indicator of Palin's support from those who count-i.e. Republican voters. How did she fare with that group? Palin had a 58%-36% favorability ratio. The EM result, presumingly including some non-Republicans is 55.18%-44.82%

This result follows on from PPP Polling earlier finding that Sarah Palin was more popular, by far, than any of the declared GOP candidates in the 2012 primary campaign, with a 68% approval rating 

 and a net positive rating of +48. AT THIS LINK

"one interesting finding on this poll was that Sarah Palin is far more popular than any of the actual Republican candidates . Her net favorability is +48, with 68% of voters rating her favorably to only 20% with a negative opinion. That compares favorably to +29 for Santorum, +19 for Romney, and -26 for Paul.

Palin is someone GOP delegates might be able to unify around in the case of a hopelessly deadlocked convention. She is seen positively by Gingrich voters (85/7), Santorum supporters (80/10), and Romney ones (57/27) alike. "

Now today's poll result at Election Meter.Com has her approval also at a significant level. 

The new 6,110 aggregate vote EM Poll gives Palin a 55.18% approval rating. This is her fourth rating above 45% by one point or more increases in this poll since 2010, and shows the long struggle against media distortion she has had to undertake. Still, the slow and steady rise continues-as Palin's polling over the last year indicates clearly.

Undertake the long struggle she has done indeed, and her tenacity seems to finally be paying, off as voters now are seeing her in a substantially positive light again.The following factors may also have been significant contributors to her continuous rise

Her strong statements on President Obama's handling of  the economy during and after the 2012 election have clearly elicited a  positive response. Voters look for strength of character and unwavering conviction which, whether one agrees with her views or not, Palin has in abundance

Her winning endorsements for high profile campaigns e.g. Deb Fischer's come from behind Senate primary wins, and Ted Cruz's remarkable rise in Texas- both of whom won their general election campaigns all with Palin's support. The perceived unfairness to Palin by the Romney team in hiring someone who has spoken negatively about to run his campaign, and of course their stonewalling Palin being invited to the Tampa convention

Yes certainly, the Election Meter poll is an on-line poll and can be discounted to a degree because of that. However, when Palin was at her absolute nadir in this poll in 2010 at 19.2% her enemies would have seized on it as being representative of a general feeling. 

There is some degree of validity to that view, although it is distorted and extreme, but on the other hand the steady, seemingly inexorable rise since then must also reflect a wider reality-which will of course be ignored by her enemies.

The longer term graphs which, because of the time frame involved, must be valid in the wider context they support. Surely the absolute polling height of 72% in 2008 was a genuine reflection of reality at that time.
