A site "JH Politics which appears to be Virginia based, AT THIS LINK has been running a series of straw polls here is their December result:
2016 Straw Poll: December 2012
Our November straw poll results were pretty interesting. Rand Paul benefited from a huge online surge, showing that his father’s supporters on the web are all-in for another Paul candidacy, at least at this stage. “Other” finished second, primarily because of supporters of Jeb Bush and Sarah Palin. Bush and Palin have been added to the December poll for that reason.
Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan lead the pack among “traditional” conservative candidates. The two potential candidates from Ohio, John Kasich and Rob Portman, fared the worst. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell did worse than I expected, primarily because Virginians would prefer him to run for the United States Senate. We’ll see what December’s results show:
2016 Straw Poll: December 2012
- Sarah Palin (41%, 357 Votes)
- Rand Paul (29%, 255 Votes)
- Marco Rubio (10%, 85 Votes)
- Other (4%, 36 Votes)
- Jeb Bush (3%, 25 Votes)
- Chris Christie (2%, 19 Votes)
- Bobby Jindal (2%, 16 Votes)
- Paul Ryan (2%, 16 Votes)
- Jon Huntsman (2%, 15 Votes)
- Mike Huckabee (1%, 11 Votes)
- Rick Santorum (1%, 11 Votes)

- Rob Portman (1%, 7 Votes)
- John Kasich (1%, 6 Votes)
- Scott Walker (1%, 6 Votes)
- Nikki Haley (0%, 2 Votes)

Their latest poll, currently on line for January has, with 660 votes counted so far Palin way out in front with 73% of the vote.Rand Paul may have had a bit of a bump with the indication that he was definitely a candidate for 2016 but the depth of palin's support is clealry manifest in the latest poll
