Original post;
If Sarah Palin's latest Tweets and the announcement of her next speaking engagement are examined it is very clear that the religious aspect of her focus has, at least for the time being, superseded the overtly political.
As can also be determined Palin has made an emphasis on her right to life beliefs with her speaking engagement following the Catholic Archbishop Chaput's memorial Mass in honor of the late Terry Schiavo in Philadelphia.
Her right to life beliefs are of course exemplified on her carry her Down Syndrome child Trig to birth and her celebration of basketball achiever Down Syndrome Owen Groesser in a Tweet.
None of this can be evinced as a political outreach to the Catholic community and church hierarchy, on the other hand these obviously sincerely held beliefs and actions would do her no harm with them too. The highly respected journalist R.S. McCain. commenting (below) on the result of the 2012 election, made the point that an "adamantly pro-life Catholic would have done better".
If McCain is correct, and I agree with his views, then a Catholic on the ticket in 2016 might well be a major plus for the GOP.I have suggested that a Palin/Jindal ticket might be a very strong one for a multiplicity of reasons.
Palin, Palin was born and baptized as a Roman Catholic but raised as a Pentecostal Christian. Palin's family were Roman Catholics but later joined the Wasilla Assembly of God, and whose pro-life credentials are not only impeccable, but are in fact transcendent, could attract the Catholic vote whilst, as a Protestant, retain the conservative evangelical vote, which Romney may have lost because of his Mormonism.
If Palin is to make a run in 2016 her Catholic outreach and right to life credentials may tip the balance in her favor.
What are we succumbing to, America? The army orders "the removal of Christian symbols from a chapel." I wonder...http://fb.me/27B0frJbs
Three cheers for Owen Groesser, an eighth grader with Down Syndrome who became an overnight social media star...http://fb.me/1lt71Ie4E
R.S. McCain (At "The Other McCain") gets it 100% right:
Look at the exit polls: In Ohio, Romney got only 81% of the conservative vote, while Obama got 88% of the liberal vote. Thirty-five percent of Ohio voters called themselves conservative, as compared to 22% who identified as liberal. If Romney had gotten a larger share of the conservative vote, he would have won Ohio. Now, here are the truly frightening numbers: Obama got 44% of the Catholic vote in Ohio, and 29% of the evangelical (or “born again”) Protestant vote.
Is Jonah Goldberg willing to admit what seems obvious to me, namely that nominating a moderate Mormon contributed to the weakening of GOP support among conservative Christians? Isn’t it possible that an adamantly pro-life Catholic would have done better?

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 23, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network is delighted to announce that Archbishop Charles Chaput, Archbishop of the Diocese of Philadelphia, will celebrate "The National Memorial Mass for Terri's Day."
In addition, Governor Sarah Palin will be the honored speaker at the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network's Award Gala following Terri's Memorial Mass.
The International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters ("Terri's Day") was established in 2007 and is observed each year on or around March 31st, the date of Terri's death.
The purpose of this day is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the cognitively disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.
"We are delighted to have His Excellency, Archbishop Chaput, as the main celebrant for Terri's Memorial Mass and Governor Palin as the keynote speaker at our first Award Gala. Our intention is to raise the needed awareness of this widely misunderstood issue so that the general public recognizes how our medically vulnerable remain in the cross-hairs of an anti-life mentality growing in our nation," noted Bobby Schindler, Terri's brother and Executive Director of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network.
All are invited and encouraged to attend "The National Memorial Mass for Terri's Day." Because Easter falls on March 31st, this year's Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2013 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul located at 18th Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia.
The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network's Award Gala with Governor Sarah Palin will be held in the evening at the downtown Philadelphia Marriott. The first "Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Award" will be presented to an individual/family who fought to protect the dignity of a loved one.
