Video:Bill Kristol "Palin Should Run For Senate & McCain's Best Weeks In 2008 Were After Palin Was Added To Ticket"

Update:Kristol "clarified' his remarks on a later program but they are-in essence, the same as his original one;"

“I was asked, ‘Does Sarah Palin have a future?’ and I just tried to give an analytical answer, which is I don’t think she does having resigned as governor,” he said.
He continued, “This is useful to think outside the box, not just accept the conventional wisdom…If she wants to have a serious future in American politics, as opposed to giving speeches occasionally, causing a ruckus with Facebook posts, she should run for office. Running and winning takes away a lot of the baggage of the past.”
BILL KRISTOL: I was for taking the gamble of putting her on the ticket, I don’t think it hurt the ticket in 2008. I think the best two weeks for the McCain campaign against Obama in 2008 were the two weeks after he picked Sarah Palin. And then she had a little bit of a rough patch -- she was mishandled, I think, by the McCain people. 

I think her stepping down as governor of Alaska was a big problem. People don’t like to see a candidate, a governor, an executive -- absent some medical reason or whatever -- to just leave office early. She had been a good governor, incidentally, of Alaska until then. So, that, I think, is something she has to recover from in terms of being a serious leader in the party. Still has a lot of loyalty, she can still shape the debate, she still has a great political touch.

I think the way Palin would possibly resurrect herself, if that’s the right word or rehabilitate herself, I guess is a better way of putting it -- run for Senate in Alaska in 2014. I’m not urging that. I’m just saying, if I were her adviser, I would say, take on the incumbent, you have to win a primary, then you have to beat an incumbent Democrat, it’s not easy. But if she did that, suddenly, imagine that, Sarah Palin, freshman Senator in 2015 in Washington, having beaten an incumbent, that'd be pretty interesting. (This Week Web Extra, August 18, 2013)

Bill Kristol appears very positive about Sarah Palin's achievements and influence and sees a way forward for her as the candidate for Senate from Alaska 2014. 

His comments about her leaving the Governorship have to be tempered by examining the reasons, the impossibility of governing when under immense financial strain through idiotic legal attacks against her. 

 His remarks about Palin being an asset to McCain's campaign actually understate her importance (See article 
AT THIS LINK). He went from being way behind to being in a position of winning the presidency until the economic collapse made that impossible. He does however rightly not how the McCain team mishandled her (against her strenuous objections)
